An exceptional gilt brass carriage clock with grande and petite sonnerie, moon dial and calendar work by Charles Frédéric Klentschi, made for the Export market.

The maker Charles Frédéric Klentschi was born in 1774 and died in 1854. He is a notable maker and ran a horological school with Maillardet from about 1814. One of his pupils at the school was Fritz Courvoisier who has produced a number of clocks with similar strike work mounted on the backplate. Klentschi also worked for the Courvoisier family.
